The Table Flute

• looks like a piece of white painted MDF.
• It's actually a polyphonic electronic flute

Narrative

This came about with a degree of serendipity. The electric leaves project had some technical difficulties. The leaves fell off the wall as their MDF substrate was too heavy. So, rebuilt onto a piece of MDF 2x4 Ft board with "hot spots. In the original context it was an MP3 player. It was then re-purposed as a MIDI player for a Sound Bytes event at TNMoC. It was re-programmed as a polyphonic flute. It wa a great hit when visitors waved their hands across what appears to be a plain piece of wood that generates ethereal sounds.

This is achieved using copper tape, covered with white gaffer tape wired back to a Bareconductive board in MIDI mode.
